Shohei Nishihara is a Japanese-Chinese artist based in Tokyo. Born in 1985 in Fukuoka, raised in Yokohama. He enjoyed drawing from childhood and studied fine arts in an art school in Boston after graduating high school. Shohei is engaged +10 years in the healthcare industry and he currently works at a pharmaceutical company in Tokyo while pursuing art activities related to Banana Dog.
Shohei’s art is influenced by ideas such as Fauvism, Cubism, Surrealism, Bauhaus and Minimalism. As such, he strives to make works that are moderately abstract, dreamy and simple. Shohei respects art materials and prefers expression techniques that can best express their values. He also loves collaborating with specialists from other art fields.
Aside from art, Shohei is a fan of Karate and goes to the Dojo dreaming to get a black belt one day. He also enjoys picking up trash and pretty rocks at the beach. Shohei loves animals in general, especially rodents. He is an avid collector of Japanese soft vinyl toys made by individual artists. His favorite food are tomatoes and sunny side up eggs.
Shohei is fluent in English and Japanese and understands a little bit of German.
